Writing a Thank You Note
After going through the wedding ceremony and collecting the well wishes and gifts from your relatives and friends, it’s time to show come appreciation to thank them for the great gifts they have showered you.
If you have a bridal / wedding registry, you would most probably be pretty safe that you would not be getting duplicates of the items or getting unwanted items. Though a bridal registry can help to give your guests to give you what you really needed, you might still get a couple of gifts which are not exactly to you liking.
However this does not mean that you disregard sending thank you notes to the guests who have sent you the gifts and attending the wedding.
A thank you note can be very simple but it must be handwritten! It is not nice to send a printed card to the guests acknowledging their gracefulness in sending the gifts that you want. The thank you card should be personalized and stating exactly what the guests have bought for you and to thank them for that.
You could get the printer to help print your names and the design of the card. But the content must be handwritten. This works the same way as why you do not send a response card together with your wedding invitation for the guests to reply as it is the norm for the guests to send handwritten responses. This is part of the wedding etiquette.
Another thing to note is that the thank you card should be sent within one month after the ceremony so that the guests are still fresh in memory.
Examples of a Thank You Note:
Dear Jenny
Thank you for buying the lovely porcelain cutleries. It certainly brightens up our kitchen.
Best Regards
Hugh & Jen
