Most wedding sites talked about how to choose a wedding dress for the bride. So what happens to the groom? They might be equally at loss as the bride to what they should wear for that day!

What should the groom take into account of the wedding attire he should wear on that day? Should he wear the traditional tuxedo style or should he just get something that match the theme of the wedding?

It does seem weird if the wedding theme is Hawaiian beach theme and the groom is in tie, shirt and pants. Not only does it don’t match the occasion, he might be sweating furiously as it is most probably an outdoor event!

So what are some tips the groom could look at in choosing his own attire?

As mentioned, getting something that suits the event is important to get a consistent feel and look.

• Match the bride’s wedding dress

If the bride is wearing something formal, then the groom should try to match hers. It will be funny if the groom picks an outfit that is significantly out from the bride’s style.

Do check with each other on the choice of style and color.

• Formality of the event

How formal you want the event to be? You might be opting for a Caribbean beach wedding but chooses to be more formal and so you might turn up in a shirt and pants, instead of a shirt and bermudas.

• Weather

Try to do a preliminary weather forecast on the big day. If it’s going to be hot and humid, the groom might want to choose an outfit that is light.

• Timing of the ceremony

The timing of the ceremony is an important consideration. If you are doing a breakfast reception, you might want to be a little informal, instead of wearing the black tuxedo.

So what are the options the groom can choose?

The classic one will be the all versatile black tuxedo.

If not, the following are alternative options.

·       Dark color suit – matches most colors, so you would not have to fret about not being able to match your other half’s dress.

·       Linen shirt and pants or Linen shirt and bermudas – Great for tropical or beach weddings. You can opt for Hawaiian printed shirts or just plain shirts.

·       Blazer and pants - For informal weddings.

·       White jacket - Great if the wedding is held in warm weather.
