Duties of the attendants (Maid of Honor; Best man; Bridesmaid; Groomsmen)
After carefully assembling the team from both sides, both of you carve out the duties and tasks that need to be shared among them.
Usually you will write down the duties and responsibilities and let you right hand woman and man to help coordinate the tasks.
So what are the tasks that you can delineate to each person holding the roles?
Here are some ideas to guide you along:
Brides' assemble:
Maid of Honor / Matron of Honor
For married honor, she will be referred as the Matron of Honor. This person plays a key role and can be considered the bride’s right hand woman. Not only does she sign as a witness on the marriage documents, she helps to coordinate and supervise the tasks needed.
She helps with the pre preparation errands, parties and plays a big role on the wedding day.
Bridesmaid
They can be single or married. They helped out with the tasks such as sending out the wedding invitations and assist the maid of honor. They go for the pre wedding parities.
On the big day itself, they are part of the progression and mingle with the crowd to get them to dance and participate.
For the younger girls who are less than 16 years but above 8 years old, they are called junior bridesmaids. The tasks they undertake will be lesser.
The bridesmaids may pay for their own bridesmaid dresses and accessories though the couple can sponsor them.
Flower Girls
They scatter the flowers and pave the way for the wedding progression. The girls are usually around 5 – 8 years old.
Her attire is usually paid by her parents though the couple can sponsor them.
Groom's assemble:
Best Man
Similar to the maid of honor, the best man is the groom’s right hand man. He helps to organize the bachelor party, organize the groomsmen, pick up the groom’s attire and rings, proposes toasts and make the wedding speech.
He signs on the marriage documents too as a witness and dance with the maid of honor.
Groomsmen
The groomsmen helped the best man in his duties and organize the bachelor party. They are also ushers on the big day and help to seat the guests.
Ring Bearer
This is usually a young boy age 5 – 8 years old. He will walk down the aisle with the wedding rings or bands needed on a satin pillow.
Ribbons are usually tied to the rings to allow clear differentiation for the maid of honor and best man to take the right ring during the officiant ceremony.
His attire is usually paid by her parents though the couple can sponsor them.
