Beach wedding in Batam, Indonesia

I've recently visited Batam for a short trip. Though Batam is usually not viewed as the popular beach destination site, I found that it has a flavor of its own.

As compared to Bali and Lombok, Batam do not boasts great beaches. In fact, it is hard to find pristine white sands beaches. The beaches are covered mostly with brown sands.

However they have great, affordable beach resorts with secluded private beaches for you do up a small private beach ceremony.

There are many famous resorts in Batam such as Holiday Inn or Turi Beach Resort.

I visited the Harris Resort at the Waterfront City. It is a mid scale beach resort. I would say the amenities there are quite new as it had been upgraded some time ago.

I stayed in a Cabana (single standalone hut). It is quite amazing. One very unique feature is that the toilet has no doors and the whole concept is very open. I was told that it is very popular with newly weds on honeymoon. The room decor is simple and unique with a blends of the signature Harris orange color.

Once arrived at the resort, you are greeted by the warm Indonesian hospitality. There aren't much sea sports you can do in Batam but you can go for go-kart or cable ski.

The activities there are very limited though. However if you like shopping, you can go to the latest shopping centre - Batam Centre.

It is a newly built megamall and there are a lot of shops in there.

If you have the budget to splurge on a lavish wedding, why not choose Turi Beach Resort. It has a nice private beach which you could conider to set up a small private ceremony. The very unique architecture of its villas is an attraction. Besides this, you can go for sea sports or to have a relaxing spa on the beach.

 You can plan to have your wedding under the shimmering sunset on the beach.

So do consider Batam for a great, affordable beach wedding!
